02 — EXPLORE THE MECHANICSINTERACTIVE MODEL

What remains
after costs?

Adjust hypothetical rates to see the trade-off. This model isolates funding less the costs you enter; it is not a calculation of total trading profit.

Your assumptions

Notional is the exposure of one position, not capital invested. Negative funding rates are supported.

MODELED OUTCOME7 DAYS

Funding less costs

Positive under these assumptions

Long-side funding−$21.00
Short-side funding+$84.00

Model assumptions & exclusions

Funding = notional × (short rate − long rate) / 100 × 3 settlements per day × days. Entered costs are then deducted. The model assumes linear contracts settled in the same stable currency, aligned eight-hour intervals, constant rates and constant notional. USDT is treated as USD for this illustration.

Price P&L, basis and position-size changes, liquidation, borrowing, transfers, stablecoin depegging and venue default are excluded. Actual settlement intervals may differ. A positive model result can still coincide with a loss on the overall trade.

03 — THE RISK PERSPECTIVE

Every hedge
has its limits.

The rate difference is only part of the picture. Research also means understanding where a strategy can break down.

01

Rates can reverse

A favorable difference can narrow or turn negative before the next settlement.

02

Margin stays separate

Gains on one exchange do not automatically support margin on another. An individual leg can be liquidated.

03

Execution matters

Changing price differences, slippage and mismatched fills can outweigh funding received.

04

Venues add exposure

Outages, withdrawal restrictions and venue failure can affect access to capital and positions.
